Life is full of ups and downs that it affects how to keep your faith strong in tough times. There are some days when you feel like you can take on anything. Some days, you just want to curl into a ball and rest. Like life, our faith can also fluctuate.

For the most part of our life, our faith acts as our foundation in keeping a positive outlook. Personally, it gives me calm and assurance knowing that someone powerful is out there, looking out for me. It keeps me at peace that I am in good hands even in tough times. My faith reminds me that going through something negative will help me come out stronger. However, there are days that I forget about this; days where the anxieties win and the negativities get in. Still, I need to keep my faith intact. How do I do this?

Clear your mind and practice mindfulness

Step back and look at yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself why you are worrying about something that has not happened yet. Be in the present moment. Pay closer attention to what is in front of you and not to what lies ahead. You can do activities like guided meditations or yoga to clear your mind. Think about what you have accomplished so far. Have faith in God and be thankful to the Lord that you’re here, in the present, and you have made it this far.

Keep Your Faith by Reading the Bible

The key to keeping a strong faith in the Lord is trusting in His words. During tough times, every scripture in the bible will give you a deeper understanding and meaning of why things are happening and what it will teach you. Stories in the bible are written for the purpose of showing you that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. There is a lesson in everything.

You can also choose the life verse that will give you the feeling like God is talking directly to you. Reading the bible will make you feel as if He’s saying that He understands what you’re going through and He will always be by your side.

Put your trust in Him

The Lord will never give you any hardships and struggles that you cannot surpass. These tough times, as trying as they might be, are life lessons that the Lord set to test you, to let you know that He trusts you. All the struggles that you experience in life will prepare you for something far greater in the future.

He believes in what you can do and you are given these challenges in life because He knows that you will get through them. Keeping your faith means putting your trust in Him that no matter what life throws at you, He is your salvation.

Praise and Worship

Another way on how to keep your faith strong in tough times is to worship the Lord. Go to the place where you can feel His love the most, this might be the church, a worship house, or an altar at your house. Lift up His name! He, the almighty and all-knowing God.

Praising Him will give you a sense of clarity and belongingness. It will show you light and bring you peace. It will reveal that you are on the right path. The Lord is with you all the time. Whatever tough times it might be, you can concur it with the presence of God.

Keep your faith strong by sharing it with other people

Building your faith back on challenging times means being there for others who might be going through the same situation. As the Lord said, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”1 Thessalonians 5:11

Be the light in someone else’s dark path, just as the Lord is in yours. Be kind and helpful without thinking of something in return. What we do for others reflects how we practice the teachings and the words of God. The Lord wants us to give and He will bless us back tenfold.

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for lifting up the name of the Lord. Being with people who practice the same belief and trust God as much as you do will help you in keeping your faith in Him. Consider MLK (Martin Luther King) and how he practiced his faith to put his community on the right path.

Constant prayer

The best way to keep your faith strong is to build a personal relationship and connection with the Lord. Tell Him all your worries and all your desires. Reach out to Him not only in times of need, but also when something good happened, or when you feel happy. Remember Him not only on the days that you are down, but confide in Him even with the little things.

Talk to Him! In the morning when you wake up, during your busy day, and before you go to bed. We might not hear God’s voice clearly, but He responds and speaks to us in different ways. All we have to do is focus on his signs, his signals, and the messages he puts on everyday situations. He will never abandon those who seek out His help and those who call out His name.

Conclusion

Your faith can falter and waver anytime you are faced with something difficult. These situations may make you think that you can’t get out of them. You might feel fear or doubt. Because of this, you might forget that the Lord is with you all the time. Going through challenging times sometimes makes you question your faith and your connection with Him. But these tips on how to keep your faith strong in tough times will help you find that connection back.

Be reminded that the Lord has plans. He showed His love for humanity in too many ways that we lost count. Given that, we should always keep in mind that whatever we are experiencing are tests that may be future testimonials on how He is able to touch and change our lives for the better. Keep your strong faith in Him and He will help you get through anything.
